Non Demonic Faith
Below is an excerpt from Kesha’s upcoming book, “Arise and Shine, Your Battles at the Gates of Faith.”
Having the fear of the Lord is essential to cultivating a genuine, non-demonic faith because it aligns our hearts with reverence, obedience, and submission to God’s will. Unlike the fear that demons have—a fear rooted in terror and impending judgment—the fear of the Lord is a holy awe and deep respect for God’s sovereignty, righteousness, and power.
How the Fear of the Lord Contributes to Non-Demonic Faith
1. True Faith Produces Obedience, Not Just Acknowledgment
• James 2:19 says, “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe—and shudder.”
• This verse reveals that demons acknowledge God’s existence and power, but their belief is not faith that leads to salvation. They fear His judgment but have no obedience or relationship with Him.
• Non-demonic faith, in contrast, is not just about recognizing God’s power but living in submission and obedience to Him. The fear of the Lord leads to a transformed heart that seeks to honor Him, not just acknowledge Him from a distance.
2. The Fear of the Lord Extends God’s Mercy and Grace
• Psalm 103:17 – “But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children.”
• God extends mercy and grace to those who fear Him because they walk in humility, repentance, and dependence on His guidance.
• A person who fears the Lord recognizes their need for God’s forgiveness and actively pursues righteousness, unlike demons, who are irrevocably condemned and cannot receive mercy.
3. The Fear of the Lord Leads to Wisdom and Spiritual Maturity
• Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
• True faith matures through wisdom, discernment, and spiritual growth, all of which stem from a healthy fear of the Lord.
• Unlike demons, who operate in deception, those who fear the Lord walk in truth and divine revelation, allowing them to experience God’s grace in full measure.
4. Reverence vs. Terror: A Key Distinction
• Demons recognize Jesus’ authority and fear His judgment (Mark 1:24, “Have you come to destroy us?”), but they do not worship or obey Him.
• A believer who fears the Lord does not just fear punishment but seeks to honor God out of love, respect, and devotion.
• This reverential fear draws believers closer to God, whereas demonic fear drives entities away from Him in torment and rebellion.
Conclusion
The fear of the Lord is what separates true faith from mere belief. It is not a crippling fear but a reverence that leads to obedience, wisdom, and an outpouring of God’s mercy and grace. Demons may recognize Jesus’ power, but they lack submission, love, and redemption—all of which come through a true, godly fear that transforms and restores.
